The PBS Documentary, Digital Nation, is a very interesting film that shows how technology has affected societies around the world. Everything from the use of computers in the class room, to video gaming cafes, are included throughout the movie. There's even a bit on how some virtual reality sites, such as second life, are being used to host virtual company meetings! You don't even have to leave your house to get to work anymore. How cool is that?

The thing that intrigued me the most, however, was learning about how college students tend to write their papers a paragraph at a time, taking breaks in between to surf the web or even send a text message. At first, this surprised me. I thought, "how could you get so distracted that you can't even write a fluent paper?" Then, I suddenly realized I was doing it too, but instead of just jumping straight through to the next paragraph, I would re-read everything I had just written above it and then proceed. In effect, I was masking my little diversions by basically starting all over again. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, though. I am a firm believer in re-reading everything you write before you turn it in. However, whether these distractions actually helped me to go over my work effectively, or caused me to go over my work so many times that that in itself was a distraction, has yet to be determined! Do you write in paragraphs? What do you think of the concept? I'd love to see your comments to these questions below!
